The investment seeks to track the performance of the Solactive GBS Canada Large & Mid Cap USD Index NTR. The fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the index and in depositary receipts based on securities comprising the index. The index is a free float-adjusted market capitalization index that is designed to measure the equity market performance of large- and mid-cap companies in Canada.

At its April meeting, the Bank of Canada accelerated its tightening cycle, building on March's 25-basis-point rate hike with a larger, 50bp increase to lift the overnight rate to 1%. The central bank accelerated tightening with a large rate hike and quantitative tightening, amid strong growth, elevated inflation and a tight labor market.

Above-target inflation, higher commodity prices, and concerns about financial stability prompted the Bank of Canada (BOC) to hasten its rate-hiking cycle. Buoyed by strong commodity prices, above-trend growth and inflation, a closed output gap, and an expected lag before higher rates affect consumers, BOC officials likely believe the economy can weather a faster hiking cycle.
