The fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and it will invest at least 90% of its assets in U.S. Treasury securities that BFA believes will help the fund track the underlying index. The index measures the performance of public obligations of the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of less than or equal to three months.

Investors were net purchasers of fund assets (including those of conventional funds and ETFs) for the third week in a row, injecting a net $2.3 billion for the Refinitiv Lipper fund-flows week ended Jan 11. Equity ETFs experienced net inflows for the second week in three, attracting a little less than $2.0 billion for the most recent fund flows week.

While short term treasuries would have been perfect for the prudent ETF investor at the beginning of the rate hikes, investors need to realise that the cycle is likely ending. SGOV is too passive given the stage of the rate cycle and the slew of macro indicators that seem to be pointing to a rate peak.
